Interested in learning more about Chinatown history and the Greater Boston AAPI arts community?

Pao Arts Center provides guided tours and experiences for middle school, high school, college, and graduate student groups on the topics of the history of Chinatown, current community needs of the AAPI community, and the role of arts and culture.  

Audience: Groups up to 20 people (including chaperones)  

Ages: 6th grade and up  

Dates and Time: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 10 am or 1 pm 

Length: 1 hour 15 minutes 

Fee: $300 (Over 20 people, there will be an additional $100 fee per group of 1 - 20 people led by an additional staff person.)

Each experience includes:  

  1. A 1 hour prep call to discuss group goals and tour alignment.

  2. An introduction and history of the Chinatown neighborhood and development and the development and role of Pao Arts Center to respond to community needs.

  3. Exploration into the current exhibit at Pao Arts Center. Themes are dependent on the exhibit and tour focus can be developed between the school contact and a Pao Arts Center staff.

  4. An engaging activity (one of the below):

    1. A walking tour of Chinatown with a focus on activism, community, and the arts.

    2. A facilitated hands-on activity related to the gallery exhibit. An additional fee for materials may incur depending on the exhibition and selected activity.
