Pao Arts Center is thrilled to announce that it is one of eleven arts and cultural organizations to receive funding from Mayor Michelle Wu and the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture new Cultural Investment Grant’s program.

This new program from the City of Boston announced on Tuesday, July 11, is a multi-year investment of $7.35 million funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to support arts and cultural organizations to reimagine a creative and equitable City. Pao Arts Center will receive funding from 2023 to 2026 to strengthen the Asian and Chinatown community through access to culturally relevant art, education, and creative programs.

Pao Arts Center Director Cynthia Woo shares:

This grant will bolster our financial sustainability and allow us to host more expansive arts programs that strengthen the AAPI creative ecosystem and further our cross-sector impact. At Pao Arts Center, we know the power of arts and culture to nurture wellbeing and to empower community self-determination. We are so excited to collaborate with the City of Boston and colleagues across neighborhoods to use this investment to uplift the cultural sector. Together we can create a long-term foundation where the arts thrive and establish Boston as a national model for creating a vibrant and equitable city for all.
