Stardust in a Dandelion

  • Pao Arts Center 99 Albany Street Boston, MA, 02111 United States (map)

Join us for an evening of music, poetry, and visual arts, co-curated with musician and songwriter Maddie Lam. Enter a dream world crafted by sound and words that capture the worldly in the ethereal. The performances take you through an inner landscape of a human heart, charting the atlas of grief and loss, celebration and regeneration. Featuring artwork by Ashley Jin and poetry by Anny Thach, these artists sew threads of art from the fabric of their lives, art that is honest as it is compelling.

Through prose and poetry, visual narrative, and song, Stardust in a Dandelion is a soft place to land.

About the Artists:

Maddie Lam - Musician and Co-curator

Maddie Lam understands music as the full expression of the soul. Born to immigrant parents, she uses creativity as a way to reconcile cultural contracts, heal generational trauma, and compost trauma into beauty. Her autobiographical songs serve as an atlas of a human heart and invites listeners into a soft connection that transcends artist-audience boundaries.

Band: Ken Ross, Jake Rudolph, Banti Gheneti, Jeff Wang

Ashley Jin - Featured Artist

Ashley Jin is a Chinese-American artist based in Somerville, MA. She works primarily in drawing and printmaking, blending prose and image to explore memory, growing pains, and Asian-American identity. She currently studies at Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

Anny Thach - Poet

Anny Thach is a social/visual/poetic artist, educator, and storyteller centering inner narratives around politicalized identities. Anny is Vietnamese, Cambodian, with a dash of Chinese American, born and raised in Dorchester. Her poetry offers a lens to how powerful reframing is considering the world of accessibility considering the lens of young people, education, and service work. Heavily influenced and inspired by works of bell hooks, Audrey Lorde, and artist organizers too long to list.
